Blueline is a smart, heat-sensitive label that can evaluate the freshness of food by measuring the amount of heat it has absorbed.
It can be used on labels and packaging to ensure the cold-chain, that is the mandatory requirement for the perfect preservation of perishable goods, is always kept below a certain temperature. Products protected by this technology can be monitored by the producer or manufacturer even before they are displayed for sale in refrigerated units at the retailer’s.
Blueline® is an additional method of monitoring perishable items. It relies on a technological device, thanks to which, a perishable product can be monitored for freshness via a simple ink-block printed onto the label using specially-formulated magnetic ink. The costs are so low it can be used on every single product that is packaged.
Blueline: cool technology designed for cool products. Cold Temperatures
It is very simple. A special magnetic label is activated by the producer/manufacturer by simply guiding it label through a magnetic field created by two magnets during the packaging phase.
The result is not a permanent feature and, in fact, magneticity can be lost during the distribution phase if the temperature rises above certain limits. When that occurs, on the basis of the thermal inertia and heat-sensitivity of the specific product, the quality of the cold-chain can be assessed and monitored.
The label is read by a special scanner (a Pen) that relays the data, via any handheld computer, to an on-line database that identifies the barcode and the type of product. In that way, the highest quality and safety levels can be maintained during the entire process ensuring the food in question reaches the consumer safely, and that the original flavour and nutritional properties have been preserved.
Look for it on fresh food (meat, fish, fruit and vegetables, milk cartons/bottles, dairy products, desserts and cold meats) and frozen products (fish, vegetables, meat, ice-cream and pre-cooked items).
